Jazz Elementary Levels 1-3, ages 8+, 1 hour
Classes consist of a warm-up, floor barre and stretches, traveling floor work, combinations, and progressions. Students in the elementary levels of jazz dance will learn various styles including: lyrical, musical theater style dance, hip-hop, funk, and other styles. Emphasis in the elementary levels focus on proper alignment, musicality, and basic jazz steps.
Jazz/Intermediate and Advanced Levels, 90 minutes
Classes for students in the intermediate and advanced levels is more complex. Students will refine technique, alignment, and flexibility. Students more thoroughly develop the various jazz styles through learning longer and more challenging choreographic elements.
It is recommended that students in intermediate/advanced levels of jazz dance also have a strong technical foundation in classical ballet or modern dance.
