What’S New at The
Dance Factory!
Nina attends the
Dance Teacher Web Conference
Nina Scattaregia,
Director of The Dance Factory, attended the Dance Teacher Web
Conference and Expo in Las Vegas from August 7-10. The conference
included four days of workshops and classes with nationally and
internationally known dance masters. Nina is excited about sharing
this information and work with her staff and students. Pick up

approach to training students of all ages.
New Classes Added to
the 2011-2012 Schedule
Boy’s Tap and
Movement
– This class is for “guys only” ages 7 and older. Lance Russell
will instruct the class. The first portion of the class will be tap
and rhythm skills. Boys tend to learn more rhythmically and pick up
tap very quickly. The second portion of the class will focus on
conditioning, flexibility and learning basic movement for guys such
as leaps, turns, large jumps!
Leaps, Turns and
Progressions
– This class will be held on Monday evenings for intermediate and
advanced level dancers. This a technique class and will not have a
recital piece. The class will focus on proper conditioning and
developing the strength and stamina for difficult progressions and
leaps utilized for competition.
Somatic Movement
Education
– Nina Scattaregia, Certified Somatic Movement Educator, has opened
her practice to do private sessions. She is also available to work
with special needs students. Somatic Movement Education is helpful
for:
*people who have
movement restrictions and would like to move more easefully
*athletes, dancers &
gymnasts
*balancing tone in
the body; helping to ease an extreme state of tension in the body or
low tone, looseness
*learning relaxation
technique
Just-for-Fun
Workshops
will begin at the end of September. The Friday evening workshops
will offer separate classes that are fun for children in
mask-making, Create and Go/Improvisation, Mask Making and more!
Adults will be able to select from ballroom classes such as salsa
and swing, Dance Energy, and Yoga Dance to name a few! Schedule

Dance Energy
was piloted in Summer Arts and was a huge success! Taught by Lance
Russell, the class combines a jazz based warm-up with lots of
stretching, sculpting and conditioning. Lances uses a lot of dance
progressions to build cardio strength and creates fun choreography
to really get you moving! Try a class today!
Harmony Yoga
comes to The Dance Factory. Also introduced during Summer Arts,
we are pleased to have Harmony Kopelov instruct a variety of yoga
classes at TDF. Gentle and Awakening Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga are
being offered several times a week. See our schedule on our
website and pick up the separate Yoga schedule in the studio.
Class fees are paid directly to Harmony Yoga.
Dance Factory
Students will perform for Buckhannon Community Theater Fundraiser
On September 10, the
advanced jazz class will present their musical theater jazz piece
from “Saturday Night Fever” at Virginia Thomas Law Center for the
Performing Arts. They will participate in Buckhannon Community
Theater’s Night on Broadway. The event is a fundraiser for BCT.
